2009 Fleet Safety Professional of the Year

Brent Bradley
Intermodal Bridge Transport

This year’s Fleet Safety Professional of the Year award is presented to Brent Bradley, Safety Manager at Intermodal Bridge Transport. During his tenure, Brent has been responsible for training over 160 independent contractors as well as insuring the fleet passes all DOT, CHP and BIT inspections.

Brent conducts ongoing safety seminars for IBT’s owner operators, hazmat certification courses and other mandatory and elective classes in order that IBT’s fleet runs smoothly and safely. He is responsible for all record keeping including, but not limited to the drivers logs, hours of service and other regulatory documents. Brent maintains individual files for each driver and insures each has performed and passed all truck inspections as well as drug and alcohol testing.

Over the past 3 years, when the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles began discussing the implantation of new environmental regulations to reduce diesel emissions and insure a cleaner, greener future for the ports, Brent became actively involved in virtually every organization and coalition that participated in the logistics of such a huge transition. As the Clean Truck Act came to fruition last year, he was heavily involved in negotiating lease contracts between IBT and various trucking fleets which were compliant with the new port regulations. Today, IBT operates 50 ‘clean trucks’ and 100 drivers to cover day and night shifts. Brent acts as a liaison for IBT and TEC on all maintenance issues, interacts with IBT dispatch operations division to insure productive utilization of the contracted drivers and plays a hands on role in maintaining the safety of the fleet.

Brent has also been an active volunteer CTA’s annual Truck Driving Championships and other various safety events. Utilizing the experience and skill from these events and under his leadership, IBT has earned several safety awards over the years.
