Spring is just around the corner and that means its time for
the CA Truck Driving Championship Competitions. Your company’s participation is essential to the vitality of this fun and
valuable safety program.
TDC is a
skills competition that builds confidence and
pride among competitors and fosters a commitment to safe driving – an integral part of any successful trucking company. The
contest also offers companies an opportunity to build camaraderie and friendships in the family friendly environment.
In order to compete a driver must:
have performed the regular duties of a full time professional truck driver
or hostler for at least eleven of the twelve months prior to the date of the competition;
have been employed as a truck driver by a motor carrier who maintains a
terminal in the State of California for twelve (12) consecutive months preceding the date of the competition;
had a minimum of one year of accident-free driving prior to entry and participation
in the competition;
have a valid CDL and Medical Certificate in possession at the regional and/or state championships
Three regional competitions are held within this year:
Central TDC will be held at Con-way Freights terminal in Fresno, CA on April 26, 2008.
South TDC will be held at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA on May 17, 2008.
North TDC will be held at the Yellow Transportation terminal in Tracy, CA on June 7, 2008.
The winners from each class of competition from each region then come together to compete
in the state finals at the Yellow Transportation termin in Tracy, CA on June 8, 2008.
Each year's state finals winners will compete with other states' winners at the National Truck
Driving Championships. The National Truck Driving Championships will be held by ATA at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX from
Tuesday, Aug. 19 to Saturday, Aug 23, 2008.
