The Kingpin Program The California Trucking Association (CTA), through its Department of Legislative Affairs, has developed a program to encourage its members about the process, so they can become legislative advocates for the trucking industry by developing relationships with elected officials. Kingpin Program Mission What is a Kingpin Kingpins are legislative advocates for the trucking industry, who interacts with elected officials and rapidly responds to government action. They are the frontline for protecting the trucking industry. Kingpins speak with their legislators, and can explain the issues and concerns of our industry, attend meetings and events, and also call and mail letters to their legislators and to the Governor. Why are Kingpins Needed Hundreds of bills that impact your business are introduced every year. Kingpins are needed to defeat hostile legislation and champion legislation beneficial to the trucking industry. The trucking industry is often at the mercy of decision makers who do not adequately understand the concerns and complexities of trucking. Kingpins are an essential part in helping our leaders better understand what we do, and the more contact our industry makes, the better the chances of having our voices heard. Kingpins educate our legislators about the trucking industry and it's contributions to the California economy and strengthen the connection between the trucking industry and elected officials.
