On Saturday, April 29, 2023, professional drivers across Southern California assembled at Santa Anita Park to participate in the 2023 California Truck Driving Championships – Southern Regional Competition. The California Truck Driving Championship is an annual event that showcases the skill and safety of the trucking industry while recognizing and honoring the hard work and dedication of its drivers.
During its recent Annual Membership Conference, the California Trucking Association (CTA) announced Devon Ades, Vice President of Apex Logistics LLC., as its President for 2023. Devon has more than 30 years of experience in the trucking industry and has previously served as an active member of CTA most recently as member vice president Highway Policy Committee Chair for the past two years.
Assemblymember Carlos Villapudua joined CTA in recognizing the hard work of California’s truck drivers with a presentation of a resolution officially declaring Truck Driver Appreciation Week in the state. The resolution was a bipartisan recognition by Assemblymembers Villapudua and Frank Bigelow. Drivers with Antonini Freight Express received the resolution on behalf of the trucking community.
The California Trucking Association (CTA) announced that Eric Sauer has been selected as its new Chief Executive Officer. Sauer assumed his new role as the head of the association effective August 8, 2022. He has been with the CTA since 2001.
As stakeholders at the frontlines of the goods-movement crisis, we do not support additional disruptions to California’s already strained supply chain. However, we understand the predicament that thousands of owner-operators find themselves in as enforcement of AB 5 on the trucking industry is imminent. Truly, what could be expected from these owner-operators who see their livelihoods on the line?
